唐語錄解畫

苦思新崗位的第一份稿,如何下筆,寫blog靈感全然枯竭.閉關前先以經濟日報上周一篇報道,為唐唐語錄解畫,稍後再回應各位,謝謝.(嗯,我大概這兩日會寫好初稿的,請放心)

經濟日報 2月24日 將稅比喻死亡 富蘭克林名句

昨日一大清早電視便播放着被烽煙市民批評得體無完膚的財政司司長唐英年說︰「人生中有兩樣東西必然發生的,就是死亡與交稅。」昨日不太領受此幽默的市民頻呼:「新正頭還未過,太吉利市!」

  其實,把死亡與交稅收連在一起談,是美國二百多前年前富蘭克林(Benjamin Franklin)的名句,流行至今:「除了歸西和交稅外,世上沒有肯定發生的事。」

  富蘭克林可說是美國第一個國際知名人士,被譽為民間科學家,北美殖民地擺脫英國獨立的過程中,他發揮重要作用,包括策劃美國第一座公眾圖書館,第一家全國性報章。他留下的名言,不少至今廣為人用,如人人也愛引用的勵志句「無痛苦,哪裏有收獲?(no pain no gain)。

  唐英年以美國名句喻稅收,是否有人教路?新聞統籌專員何安達說,這句話街知巷聞,做財政司或財長的,一定懂得。財政司當然自己引用自如,不用他人教。在電影《情約今生》(Meet Joe Black)中,戲中著名男影星畢彼特飾演死神,但他卻以國家稅務局調查員來掩飾身份,戲中畢彼特多次引用富蘭克林這名句。

香港的兩三份多人睇既報紙(我不想稱之為大報,因佢地唔係,純粹多人睇),最驚頭版無野寫,財爺諗住講句「名句」出黎幽默一下,點知原來無乜人識,做不到幽默的效果,反而比D報紙拎黎攻擊,真係唔知好嬲定好笑。

甚麼「人生有兩樣東西必然發生,就是死亡和交稅,」。死亡是必然,而交稅是非必然,跟本不能相題並論,很差的類比。名人的說話不一定係「名句」!

你好,不定時看你的blog久矣,但第一次留言
希望唐司長記住,死與交稅或許真的難以避免
。但美國也有一個叫梭羅的人,在政府不公義的情況下,是不應交稅的。條友唔好以為老奉。

Yes, that's a very witty quote, to some people or at least to me. Unfortunately to most Chinese, death is a real taboo, New Year or not. No doubt Tong thinks global or American, but perhaps he should talk a bit more local. Didn't somebody say "think global and act local," it's a cliche but it's true in this case. But I applaud him saying that, some people just need to lighten up a bit.
About tax is optional in the event that the government is "unjust," tell it to the IRS. You can file anything you want, as long you are not audited or better still find a good tax lawyer, good luck.
